What it is
A cafe that takes your working day seriously
Not a coffee shop you happen to open a laptop in, and not an office with a coffee machine in the corner. Three things run the place, and we have built the whole room around them.
Community events
Most Thursday evenings the tables get pushed together for a talk, a skill swap or a critique night. Free for members, ticketed for everyone else.
Coffee and snacks
A proper espresso bar, not a pod machine. Filter on rotation, pastries in the morning, one soup at lunch, and the last order half an hour before we close.

Four sound-treated booths with power and a shelf. No booking, no sign-up sheet, just close the door.

Two rooms, one seats four and one seats ten, both with a screen you can actually plug into.

The kitchen closes an hour before the room does and the last coffee order is half an hour before close. Members with a key fob can stay until 10:00pm on weeknights.

Email the counterThere is no private car park. You will find metered street parking on the surrounding blocks and a public multi-storey a few minutes walk away. There are also twelve covered bike spaces at the side entrance, free to use whether you are on a day pass or a membership.
The front room runs at normal cafe volume and a quiet call at your seat is fine. The back room is library rules: no calls, no meetings, keyboards only. The four phone booths sit between the two, so nobody ever has to take a call at a shared table.
Yes. Monthly members get two guest passes a month and after that a guest pays the standard day rate. Guests sign in at the counter and follow the same zone rules as everyone else. Under-16s are welcome in the cafe area with an adult.
Thursday evenings at 6:30pm, roughly three weeks in four. Talks, skill swaps and critique nights, usually done by half eight. They are free for members and ticketed for everyone else. The month ahead goes up on the board by the counter and out in the newsletter.
Day passes can be moved or refunded up to 24 hours before the date you booked. Monthly runs month to month: cancel any time before your renewal date and you keep access until the end of the month you have paid for. Team plans ask for 30 days notice.
Members book from the tablet outside the rooms or by asking at the counter, up to four weeks ahead. Monthly includes six hours a month and Team includes twenty. Anything beyond that is charged by the half hour. Day pass holders can book a room on the day if one is free.
Fast enough for video calls from a booth without thinking about it, on a dedicated fibre line. A second line takes over automatically if the first one drops, and there is wired ethernet at the team table if you would rather not be on wireless at all.
Step-free from the street, a lift up to the mezzanine, an accessible WC on the ground floor and aisles wide enough to turn a wheelchair in. Two height-adjustable desks can be reserved at no extra cost and assistance dogs are welcome. Tell us what you need and we will have it ready before you arrive.
